Cooktown Gateway Sign

  • Our existing signs were too small and had little impact. We needed a good design that tied in with our tourism marketing brochures. The signs have not been up long, but so far we have had nothing but good comments.

Cooktown was hoping to get a mason to build a rock wall for them to mount their entry signage on. However Main Roads regulations prevented them from building a rock wall within the clearzone. Instead Danthonia designed a frangible wall for the sign which is designed to 'give' when hit by an errant vehicle thus minimising damage to vehicle and passengers.

Danthonia uses special concealed breakaway brackets at the base of the sign. These are omni-directional, maintenance free and approved by state road authorities for use throughout QLD, VIC and WA.
