Bulloo Shire Council Thargomindah town entry sign

Thargomindah is a rural town in the red-dirt country of Queensland’s south-western corner. Although in a famously arid part of the world, Thargomindah has a steady supply of water from the Great Artesian Basin. It’s not surprising that windmills are local heroes and have become a symbol of the town.

Bulloo Shire Council approached us to create a suitable entry sign for Thargomindah, and we married corrugated galvanised iron, Corten Steel rust effect, a windmill and the hue of the local soil to portray the town. And no, it’s not real corrugated iron – our artists skilfully employed sponges and other tools to create the effect with Dulux Weathershield paints.
