Boulia Shire Council Entry Statements

Boulia Shire is deep in the western Queensland outback. One of the region’s claims to fame is the rumoured appearance of the Min Min light, an unexplained luminescent ball that sometimes appears to follow travelers in the remote outback near Boulia.

The Shire wanted a unique entry sign to welcome travelers driving the vast stretches of road between the towns of western Queensland. The town name is reversed out of rust-coloured Corten steel-effect squares, and stand out from the sign face to increase readability. The name is set on a background of vibrant blue, reflecting the cloudless skies, and faux corrugated tin. A symbol representing Boulia’s mysterious Min Min light is prominently displayed below.
