Sacred Heart Church Inverell sign

SACRED HEART CATHOLIC CHURCH in Inverell, New South Wales, is a vibrant congregation with many ministries on the go – visiting the local hospital, aged care and homes, to name just a few of the outreach activities they are involved in. People of many nationalities attend the church, and all visitors are welcome here.

Danthonia has made many church signs over the years, and they are some of our favorite projects to work on. It is important to convey each church’s character and emphasis – to give a welcoming entry statement that tells people they are warmly invited to come in. Of course, styles vary widely – from very contemporary logos to more traditional designs.

Sacred Heart Church is a beautiful brick building with a large open area and slanted ceiling / roof where mass and other meetings take place. The prople here wanted to have a new sign that would have an immediately recognizable symbol of their church, and the sacred heart was chosen. The artwork here was hand sculpted and painted, with the flame sculpted and gilded with 23kt gold. The main text was also gilded, and incise carved using hand chisels. A carved groove border accents the edge.

The sign is made of HDU (high density urethane) which looks and feels like wood but is really a closed cell, dense foam that will not split, warp or crack like wood will do over time. The paint is Dulux Weathershield – a highly UV resistant paint made with mineral pigments, so it will not fade for years to come.
