James Arthur Winery Sign

Quality is inherent in signs from Danthonia Designs. This winery sign was built from a panel of HDU (High Density Urethane), painted with Royal Blue latex paint and mounted onto a larger panel of PVC painted Burgundy. The winery name is set in a flamboyant script and is hand carved into the sign face and gilded with genuine gold leaf. Subtext is also hand carved and painted Ivory. The realistic grape sculpture with its crisp-looking leaf and delicate tendrils were sculpted by hand, painted with artist’s acrylics and mounted onto the sign face. The glittering oval behind the grape cluster was also gilded and makes use of a technique our artists call “chip-carving.” This effect is achieved with a special curved “sweep” chisel. The chisel creates a consistent surface of smooth dish-shaped gouge marks. This multifaceted surface, when gilded, causes the unique glittering effect.
